Like others, I was with Jacksons for almost 30 years (5 dogs in total). He and his fellow staff were excellent and gave great customer service. Now, with the Medivet culture, there seems to be a different vet every time and prices appear to have more than doubled. There is competition in the town and my dog and I have moved elsewhere. I have found out since that a number of Jackson's customers have moved on too, including the kennels that my dog occasionally boards at!

All the staff are amazing, when my cat was diagnosed with Epilepsy, nothing was too much trouble, phone calls after hours from them to check on her, and give me lab results, even distressed phone calls from me, we're dealt with, with compassion and caring, and when I had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go, they were kind, thoughtful, and allowed me to stay with her as long as I wanted, I wasn't rushed at any point, and everything was professionally explained. Can't praise them high enough.

I have been with Jackson's since the beginning Monday the then 11 years. My Jackson always provided a personal service and cared about the pets. I was recently offered flea and wormer by my vet for my 3 dogs. I expected about 8.00 per dose as it is in the shops. I was left with a bill of 180.00 (27.00 for one tablet) I was horrified. I was sadly to embarrassed at the time to ask the vet the take the medication back. I then found out from a friend that they do a scheme where if you pay monthly the flea and wormer is spread throughout the year. Medivet offered to refund me the money if I pay monthly instead. However I have still not had the refund and when I tried to call to cancel the healthcare plans they demand I still pay for the flea and wormer even though I still have not been refunded. I'm stressed mortified and had a gutful. The worst thing is I'm now locked into a contract I can't cancel because 180.00 is too much to lose. Well done Medivet you have me by the balls. No matter what I do I'm out of pocket and can't believe the vet would not mention the stupidly large prices to me. Please check what your being charged before you accept any services from this vet.

If I could I would give them 0 Stars. My family have used Jacksons since we were posted to carterton in 1999, Mr Jackson had a very personals relationship with pets which we loved. Unfortunately since Mr Jackson has retired the vetinary practice has gone down hill, they are just money grabbers. Dont care about the pets wellbeing, Medivet is just a franchise who wish to overcharge and bleed you dry for your earnings. I was asked to book my dog in to have a suspected tumer removed, they tried to take samples which failed, I dropped my pet of to only be told after waiting 20 minutes after my appointment they dont want to operate and wish to cage my pet while they take more samples. The stress my dog would of gone through to be caged all day is discussing in my eyes, I wasnt even offered if I wish for them to take the samples now and wait for another phone call. At least my dog would be comfortable in her own environment, Extremely disappointed, its a shame they still have Mr Jacksons name in it.

Having recently moved to this surgery from another local vets, I feel all members of staff act with care and consideration for my pets. Especially when I lost my dog, they were so patient, kind and thoughtful. I'm also very happy with the health care plan that I have recently taken out for my Dog and Cat, excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this surgery for anyone moving to the area.
